Update: Chelsea Piers Closing Extended through April 30 Posted: April 2, 2020

To our Chelsea Piers Community:

Since our last communication, the news regarding Covid-19 — and most particularly the immediate impact on the tri-state area — has been evolving quickly. We anticipate that Governor Lamont will soon announce an extension of the Connecticut State "StaySafe, Stay Home" through April 30th at the earliest. Reducing the burden on our hospital systems is everyone's goal and most urgent priority. Thank you for doing your part by staying home.

Given the current state of affairs, we are extending our temporary closure date through April 30th. Members will not be charged monthly billing in April while we are closed. We hope that May 1st will bring us together again as we once again re-engage in the sports, fitness and communal activities that make life so special.

The leadership team at Chelsea Piers continues to work and plan for reopening, including the possibility of a phased reopening based on social distancing requirements that could last beyond May 1st.

Staying in Touch.
While we are working with a very limited number of team members, we are available to answer your questions. Please email info@chelseapiersct.com. You can also check out the FAQ section on our website.

Sticking Together.
This past week — and in the coming weeks — you'll be seeing more familiar faces on our social channels. If you have not yet followed us on Instagram, please do! This is where you'll find daily live workouts, family-focused activities and more ways to stick together with your favorite instructors and fellow members during this time. Please share your own stories by tagging us @chelseapiersCT and @ChelseaPiersFitness.

We are looking forward to emerging on the other side of this crisis and being able to serve as your home away from home for years to come.

With great appreciation,
Greta Wagner
Executive Director

Dear Chelsea Piers Member Community:

I hope that as you read this you and your families remain safe and healthy. As I write this from my kitchen table, managing working from home, motivating my teenagers with their remote learning and navigating our newfound family togetherness, I can honestly share that I know what you are feeling! While this time has its difficulties, it is critical that we all do our part to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

As you know, on Sunday, March 23 at 8:00pm, Governor Lamont mandated that all non-essential businesses stay closed until at least April 22, with the goal of slowing the spread of COVID-19 and reducing the burden on our healthcare system.

So, what does this mean for Chelsea Piers?
We are extending our temporary closure through Wednesday, April 22. Please understand that our official opening date decision will be impacted by state mandates, as well as our own determination of when it would be safe to welcome back our community of employees, members and the many athletes, who make Chelsea Piers such a special place.

Many of you have questions and expressed concerns about our staff, programming and membership benefits. We will continue to provide answers through updates of our Frequently Asked Questions page on our website. We also have an off-site staff to answer your questions. Please email us at info@chelseapiersCT.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Staying in touch. Staying active.
Remaining connected with you and supporting the members of our community is a high priority. We will continue to send newsletters with tips, articles and activities to help support your body, mind, spirit and home life during this difficult time. One of my favorites if you have small children in the house is our daily "Read along" with CP Kids School Director Lindsay Bistis.

Please also follow us on our social media channels. We have a very talented group of sports and fitness professionals that will be sharing work outs and other tips for staying active at home. Our Soccer Team Director Dave Flower has been challenging our team kids each day and we will share those with you on Instagram so you can get in on the challenge as well! Tomorrow, we will post our weekly schedule of live classes you can take via social media.

Chelsea Piers Members are also reminded they have access to a free 3-Month membership to My Victory work out platform. If you have not received the member email with this info, please reach out to info@chelseapiersCT.com

Remember, we are all in this together. My Team and I will continue to update you as we have new developments on our opening. The entire team is counting the days until we can open our doors and welcome you back.

With great appreciation,
Greta Wagner
Executive Director

Update on Refund/Credit Policy Posted: March 13, 2020

In response to COVID-19 and based on recommendations of multiple public health officials, Chelsea Piers sports and fitness venues in both New York City and Stamford were temporarily closed effective Friday, March 13th.

These facilities will remain closed until Tuesday, March 31st, at which time the situation will be reevaluated. The health and safety of our staff, members and guests is our first priority. It is our view that suspending our operations temporarily is the socially responsible thing to do and in the best interests of overall community health.

As a result of closing our sports and fitness operations on Friday, March 13th, we are in the process of managing inquiries from some customers and members regarding refunds and/or credits. Chelsea Piers has decided to assess all credits/refunds after June 30th. This decision was not easy, but we had to consider the significant financial impacts this health crisis is having on our employees, our members & customers and our businesses.

Over the years we have dealt with other major events that presented unique and unprecedented challenges; we have always tried to do the right thing for our employees, members and customers in our final decisions. Seeing that this immediate business impact is one that we have never dealt with before, we ask our customers and members for patience and understanding while we take the necessary time to formulate a clear and concise plan of action.

Members: Please click here to read the email sent today.

We trust that you understand the necessity of our action, given the current health and economic crisis.
Thank you,
Chelsea Piers Management

Important Notice: Temporary Closing of Chelsea Piers Posted: March 12, 2020

To Our Chelsea Piers Community,

Based on the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in New York City and Connecticut, and on the advice of public officials who are strongly urging social-distancing, we have made a decision to temporarily close the sports, fitness and recreation businesses at Chelsea Piers, Chelsea Piers Fitness, and Chelsea Piers Connecticut effective tonight at 12:01AM, March 13, 2020. The current closure announcement is through March 31, 2020.

We regret having to make this decision but believe that, given the circumstances, temporarily closing is in the best interest of our Chelsea Piers community and necessary to responsibly respond to the COVID-19 health crisis in our city and nation. We did not make this decision lightly and recognize the inconvenience it will cause our valued customers and members. However, our overarching concern is the health of our community.

Chelsea Piers is in uncharted waters; but we’re optimistic that the spirit that helped New Yorkers through 9/11 and Superstorm Sandy will serve us well as we collectively work to be part of the solution to this unique challenge.

Chelsea Piers will continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of city, state and federal health professionals, with the hope of reopening as soon as possible. For updates regarding the closure, please visit our website, www.chelseapiersCT.com/updates.

Please understand that we are doing our best to respond to the many questions of our customers and members. We will post an FAQ section on our website as soon as possible.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
