Meet Our Staff

In addition to world-class athletic facilities and programming, what distinguishes Chelsea Piers most is its superlative coaching staff.

Arturo Barreto

Arturo comes from a family of great squash players and grew up playing in his family's squash club in Mexico City. His Uncle, a former Mexican National team player who became President of the Mexican Squash Federation, inspired Arturo to play squash from the age of 5 years old. Arturo worked his way through the junior rankings to become one of the best junior players in Mexico, achieving a highest ranking of #5. After such success, he decided to become a professional player and coach, and soon cracked the top 10 players in Mexico. He has won several tournaments both in Mexico and in the United States, and reached the semi-finals of 3 national closed PSA events. Arturo has excellent coaching credentials, having worked in several big programs, and he also worked closely with Samantha Teran, the former world #11 and long-time Mexican #1 female player. Arturo loves all aspects of the game, and has also enjoyed exposure in running major international events that have been hosted at his family's club. Since joining the Chelsea Piers team in October 2013, he has made a great impact on our younger, developing players, inspiring them the way he was inspired as a child. He is currently a PSA member and is still eager to improve his world ranking.
