Guest Faculty and Choreographer
Lauren Etter trained at the Ballet School of Stamford where she began teaching and choreographing under the mentorship of Stephanie Marini, along with Michael Vernon and Peter Anastos. She spent four summers at Chautauqua Dance, was a scholarship student at the American Dance Festival, and holds a BFA in Dance from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Her choreography has been presented in the Raw Festival by Dancenow[NYC], the Showcase Series by :pushing progress, and as a part of the Women in Dance series by Legros Cultural Arts in New York. She has choreographed numerous Ballets and Modern dances for The Ballet School of Stamford including Nutcracker Suites, Alice in Wonderland, Symphonic Progressions and Clementi Sonatinas. She was on the faculty at the Joffrey Ballet School in New York for five years, was a founding company member of the New York based Alison Cook Beatty Dance Company, and has performed with California based Sarah Berges Dance. She is a certified yoga instructor for Modo Yoga and has studied teaching trauma-informed yoga to youth through the New Leaf Foundation. Her yoga practice has had a tremendous impact on her approach to teaching dance, which is holistic, body positive, and grounded in an understanding of anatomy and biomechanics. Lauren is a guest faculty member at the Ballet School of Stamford and is currently pursuing her MFA in Dance at University of California, Irvine, where her research is focused on how movement education can help transform the lives of youth and their communities.
